TINO uses natural stone to dress the emblematic Plaza Arenas Barcelona shopping center
The old town of Las Arenas, in the Plaza of Spain in Barcelona, will look later this year as a unique shopping center, preserving the beauty of its facade and renovated neomudéjar in its structure and interior. The company TINO Stone will use natural stone to dress common areas of future Arena Plaza shopping center, which will be completed in 2010. The future shopping center, whose construction began in 2003, is by the renowned British architect Richard Rogers, author of the forthcoming projects such as Tower 3 of the World Trade Center in New York, or some of the buildings in the expansion of the Airport Terminal 4 Barajas. The British architect has worked in collaboration with the Catalan study i Alonso & Balaguer Associates Architects.< In terms of types of stone used by TINO Stone Group in the new shopping, leisure and business Arena Plaza, have been placed Real Cream stone in the common areas. The center will have 6.000m2 natural TINO stone, combined impeccably by architects to achieve harmony with the majestic elegant whole building. The project, which has a total built area of 100,600 square meters, of which 37,900 are on the level of the surface and 62,700 are below ground, provides for the rehabilitation of the building's facade, which dates from 1899, and surrounding areas. The Arena Plaza shopping center will feature the installation of twelve screen cinema, bowling alley, a shopping arcade, a fitness center with spaand thermal area, and multipurpose spaces for public events. The center has also an original jogging track round of the Barcelona 333m to run around the deck while enjoying unbeatable views over the city. Similarly, the complex will include a modern business center to be called E-Forum, catering establishments and exclusive shops.Plans also a sports complex with a circular jogging track around the roof of the building, which will enjoy excellent views.The center will have an underground car park with capacity for 1,250 spaces for cars and 670 for motorcycles. This capability will not congest traffic in the area and facilitate access to future visitors.
